This full-time position performs skilled inspection work to ensure compliance with Local, State, and Federal codes.  The inspector will conduct inspections in the following disciplines, UDC Building, Electric, HVAC, and Plumbing plus Commercial Building.  Although some new or difficult situations are referred to a superior, an employee in this position must regularly exercise technical judgment, interpretation, and discretion based on familiarity with the various regulations and ordinances which they are responsible for enforcing. During office hours, the inspector will assist contractors, homeowners, and others at the counter and on the phone.  An Inspector is also expected to occasionally attend Architectural Board and Zoning Board of Appeals meetings to provide adequate information to enable these boards to make sound decisions.

Part-Time Building Inspector

To cover office hours, inspections, and other duties as required.  Qualified applicant will work 10 – 16 hours per week, with potential for occasional extra coverage hours as needed.  Certification in UDC Building, Plumbing, Electric and HVAC required with commercial certifications a plus.


Work is performed under the supervision of the Chief Building Inspector.  This position is a non-benefitted permanent position, with a wage of $30 per hour.
